April 21, 1967 Edited by Gayle Fleming THE GRANTONIAN 3 Voters' Aid Three enter presidency race Experiences in organizing told by candidates for vice-president What experience have you had in organizing activities? Douglas Harrower Robert Heldfond Neil Jacobson Do you want this office for your personal advancement or for that of the school? I am running for Student Body President because I believe that I can serve the school as well as educate and advance myself as a person. Through this office I can learn how to work with oth ers as well as help work for the improvement of the school. —Doug Harrower Obviously any candidate for this office has both goals in mind while running. Yet, the presidency is something more, it is not an empty honor, nor is it a nomination for “status symbol of the year”. For me, it is an op portunity to express my ideas, and have them enacted. —Bob Heldfond Anyone who answers question honestly must say that he wants it for both reasons^ One of my main reasons is that-1 hon estly feel that I can improve stu dent government by doing all I can to get more students of all classes involved and interested in student government. —Neil Jacobsen Plans 'if elected’ I have belonged to Zanika Horizon Club since my freshman year. Each person helps organize the activities, but especially the officers. I was secretary and Vice-President my frosh and sophomore years respectively. Last year I held the position of secretary of Willamette Youth Association. I have also shown an interest in the school through participation in General Council and interest clubs. I have worked with Girls’ League and have told by prospects for service post Patricia Field learned from it how to work and cooperate with others. It would try to add fresh ideas and bring new activities to the council. —Susan Hatchard Having been different officers in interest clubs and working on committees for the Junior Prom and National Honor Society has made me aware of the responsi bilities and necessary planning behind the scehes planning in volved in any successful organi zation.
