12 obituaries/classified ads october6 2016 In Memory of... Robert W. Williams II In Loving Memory Robert W. Williams II of Verno- nia, Oregon died peacefully on Septem- ber 28, 2016 at the age of 55. Rob is survived by his wife Natalie, Vernonia; his son Robert Bar- nett, Indiana; stepson Jeffrey Wilder, New Jersey; stepdaughter Beth Wilder, Florida; his sister Karen Hall, Vernonia; and nephews Robert Hall, California and Chris Hall, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert and Joann Williams. Rob was born on February 20, 1961 in Castro Valley, CA and grew up in Hayward CA. After attending high school he joined the army where he was trained as a Helicopter Maintenance Engineer, serving in Germany. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion. After moving to Vernonia more than 20 years ago he began working for Oregon Steel Mill before opening his own welding and metal fabrication shop, Williams Metal Fab, in Vernonia. His skilled craftsmanship can be found in and around Vernonia. Rob married Natalie Wilder in 2005. They enjoyed friends, family, fishing, and Harley rides. Rob was a wonderful man who has helped others his entire life. Berndt, 86, a long- time former resident of the Vernonia community, late of Hillsboro, died Sun- day morning, September 11, 2016 at her home. Services have been held. For more info please visit www.verno- nia.k12.or.us. Juanita M. Berndt Juanita Montangue Berndt was born on June 16, 1930 in Vernonia, Or- egon, the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Florence M. (Montangue) Sabalino. She was raised and received her educa- tion in the Vernonia community. She was united in marriage to Oscar “Bruce” Berndt on December 12, 1975 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home in Vernonia. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Bruce on January 17, 2004 after celebrating over 28 years of marriage together. She worked alongside her hus- band in their excavating company until his retirement. Juanita worked in the Birdseye Cannery, strawberry fields, and orchards. Juanita was a previous member of the Vernonia Bible Church and the Assembly of God Church in Vernonia. She spent many years teaching Sunday school. She was most known for teach- ing Bible Club in her own home. She loved to share her love for the Bible and Jesus with others. She would pick chil- dren up on Sunday and take them home from Bible Club. Juanita did whatever it took to share her Lord with others. Late she moved to the Forest Grove/Hillsboro area and attended nu- merous churches and was faithful to the end until her health kept her from attend- ing. Deeply religious, Juanita was known for showing her faith to others as a true example of God in her life. Among her special interests she enjoyed reading her Bible faithfully first thing in the morning, followed by writ- ing in her journal. Juanita loved garden- ing. When she lived in Vernonia, she had a Bonsai flower garden in her yard. She loved all flowers and every color.
