She loved to go shop- ping and most of all spend time with her family and friends. Juanita is also preceded in death by her parents, Daniel B. and Florence M. Sabalino. Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Dawn Steele of Victorville, California; Deno and Rose Calhoon of Yamhill, Oregon; and Doug Steele of San Bernardino, California; her two daughters and sons- in-law, Mary Ann and Robert Kreel of Hope Mills, North Carolina; and Jo Woods of Hillsboro, Oregon. Also surviving are her 12 grand- children, Angie Watson, Bridget Neal, Erick Holsey, Colleen Sause, Brenda Woods, Deno Calhoon, Bruce Holsey, Chuck Bevington, Brian Steele, Jason Calhoon, Cindee Noeffliger, Allison Steele, 31 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. (503) 429-6611 2016 13 continued from page 12 Richard Emmett Jones Richard “Rich” Emmett Jones died at his residence in Tumwater, Wash- ington on August 15, 2016 at the age of 70. Rich was born March 27, 1946 to Glenn and Irene (nee Ryan) Jones of Butte, MT. He graduated from Boy’s Central High School in 1964 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Western Montana Col- lege in 1968. He moved to Oregon to pursue his first teaching job as a junior high sci- ence teacher in Vernonia. After moving to Vernonia, he met and married Theresa Pelster, where they made their home and started a family. Rich later began his career as an addiction recovery counselor, and mar- ried Pamela (nee Helmuth) Kirkland in 1985. Rich and Pam moved to the south Puget Sound area of Washington in 1990, where Rich retired in 2012. Rich is survived by his family, his son Steve and his wife Melody and their children Harmony, Hannah, Haley, Elijah, Heidi and Heather; his daugh- ters Gretchen Norman and her children Ashly Alderson and her daughter Chloe, Bailey and Savannah; Andrea Grant and her husband Jason and their children No- lan, Taylor, Huxley and Amelia; Therese Castleberry and her sons Liam and Fin- ley; as well as his brothers Glen and Ed Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Rich is preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Beverly, and wife Pam. He was born on October 10, 1930 to Bert and Gerda Madland. He grew up in Tigard, OR. A military service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Octo- ber 14, 2016 at 10:00 am.
