10 schools may22 2012 VHS Forestry Class Visits RSG Mill The Vernonia High School Forestry Class recently made a field trip to the RSG—Olympic Forest Products Mill near Mist, OR. According to class instructor Byron Brown students received a full tour of the mill, were able to observe every phase of how lumber is produced and ask lots of questions. “The people at RGS were just great to us,” said Brown. “They had it all set up for us to make it a really organized tour.” Students worked with the log scalers and learned how to do that process. “We got quite a bit of individual attention on that,” said Brown. Students also spent time in the VHS Equestrian Team District Report The VHS Equestrian Team recently competed in their final dis- trict meet. “I was extremely pleased with the team and proud of the out- come,” said coach Diane Benes. In the team events: the VHS team members Brett Benes, Chrissy Garrison, and Macayla McCord finished as follows: team penning (Benes, Garrison, Mc- Cord) 4th place, Canadian Flags (Benes, Garrison, McCord) 7th, Bi- rangle (Benes, Garrison) 16th. The Pass is good in all zones and routes and allows students the opportunity to travel locally and regionally on the CCRider System. The cost of the Pass is $45.00 and it is valid from June 7th through September 4th, 2012 with the cost per month at the low rate of $15 per month. To be eligible for the pass, the student must be attending grades 1-12 in the upcoming school year.
