The 35,000 - member union represents dock and warehouse workers in Hawaii and the West Coast of the United States and Canada, as well as workers at Powell’s Books and the Oregon Histor- ical Society in Portland. For ILWU leader “Big Bob” McEllrath, it will be his last convention as president. Building Trades’ conservation project helps Boy Scouts Volunteers from Roofers Local 49 and Laborers Local 737 teamed with the Union Sportsmen’s Al- liance (USA) May 19-20 to help construct a shooting sports com- plex for the Cascade Pacific Coun- cil Boy Scouts of America at Camp Meriwether on the Oregon Coast. The shooting range will be used for archery, shotguns, and rifles. A portion of the money for the proj- ect was raised at two USA conser- vation dinners sponsored by the Oregon State Building Trades Council in 2016 and 2017 in Port- land. The third annual dinner will be held July 13 at the IBEW Local 48 Hall in Northeast Portland.
