The 17th annual Saturday in the Park event is back Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Esther Short Park (301 W. Eighth St., Vancouver, Wash.). Under the theme “Bigger! Better! Bright er!” the 2011 event hopes to capitalize on the city’s buzz as a queer mecca; earlier this year, Advocate.com named Vancouver the sixth most gay-friendly city in America. High lights include the family-friendly picnic- style fun, with live entertainment from Kiss Kill, The Shannon Tower Band and others, and on into the later afternoon Community Pride Awards and raffle. Lyle’s Myles—a 5K annual charity walk/run—gets things started in downtown Vancouver to raise money for Cascade AIDS Project, Martha’s Pantry and Global Partners for Development. The run begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to all. As of press time, the Vancouver Gay Pride Pageant was set for Sunday, June 26 (doors at 5 p.m., show at 6) at the Vancouver Eagles building, in lieu of the newly shuttered Northbank (see story, p. 20). July 10-17 Mid-Columbia Pride: True Colors The Tri-Cities come alive for an entire week’s worth of Mid-Columbia Pride celebra tions in July. Club Out and About (327 W. Lewis St., Pasco, Wash.) acts as headquarters for the beginning of the week, starting with the LGBTQ_Film Festival Sunday, July 10, featuring award-winning documentary Put this on the (Map) at 4 p.m. On Saturday, July 16, catch the Miss Gay Columbia Basin Pageant, held at Out and About at 9 p.m. The week culminates in the Mid-Columbia Pride March and Festival Sunday, July 17 in downtown Kennewick, Wash, beginning at 2 p.m. followed by the festival at Keewaydin Park from 3 to 6 p.m. For a complete list of events, search " Mid- Columbia Pride” on Facebook. 315 SE 3RD AVE Portland Latino Gay Pride: ¡Celebraccion! PDX Latino Gay Pride 2011 may be the organization’s biggest event yet.
