About 1,600 individual surveys later, with an additional 31 organizations weighing in, the answer is a resounding YES! Sam Adams, Gwenn Baldwin, David Mar tinez and Ashleigh Flynn served as officers of a broader leadership team that directed the initial feasibility phase of work and remain in place to help transition the effort to a new leadership team that will drive the startup phase. Leal artists and an inter active forum will stimulate conversation and potentially take us closer to answering this key question as the center moves toward develop an ongoing arts and culture program. In order to open generational understand ing and to start building Q Center’s own archive/history/library program, December will have a storytelling project. R enters ’ R ights H otline V olunteer T raining C alls A ll Q ueers The Community Alliance of Tenants is looking for volunteers to staff the Renters’ Rights Hotline, which provides compassion, accurate information and practical suggestions to tenants with rental problems. The majority of callers are low-income families. The Renters’ Rights Hotline saves them money, protects their rights and prevents homelessness. CAT is Oregon’s only grassroots, tenant- controlled tenant rights organization. Its mission is to educate and empower tenants to demand affordable, stable and safe rental homes. “One of the major ways I see folks in the GLBTQ communities significantly impacted by unfavorable housing conditions is that we often don’t feel like we have as many options for where we want to live,” notes education coordinator Ari Rapkin. “If we need to live somewhere that has anti-discrimination ctxles or that has a gener ally higher population of people who are in an GLBTQ community or are supportive of folks who are, the rents can be a lot more expensive.
