LOCAL NEWS City election next month. Circuit court will be in session next week. W. T. Grieve was a visitor at Med ford Wednesday. Chas. Purse), the Buncom lumber man was in town Tuesday. James Ritter of Medford, was a visitor in town Wednesday. Judge Neil is again able to appear at his office after a weeks ibness. C. M. Ruch of Ruch, Ore. was transacting business in town Wed nesday. Jud Pernoll, the noted ball twirler of the Applegate, was transacting business in town Wednesday. Chief Shearer of the Medfoid police force resigned Wednesday. His suc cessor has not yet been named. Miss Katharine Chapman, the mil liner, visited in Medford Wednesday, the guest of Mrs. Mary • Colvig Warner. Fred J. Fick, the popular architect and builder is walking on a pair of crutches this week, on account of a sprained ankle. A large maple tree at the corner of the lot west of the court house has been removed to make room for the new cement walk. The warm winds of the Dast few days^caused the rapid disappearance of the snow to the discomfiture of Young America generally. Dr. R. T. Burnett was in town Tuesday having returned from a trip to Salem, Eugene and other points in the northern part of the state. Frank R. Neil of Eagle Point was a caller at this office Thursday morning. Mr. Neil is employed at the court house and will make this city his home for several months at least. Work on the water system is pro gressing rapidly considering the weath er conditions; about 25 men are em ployed at present but the force will De increased as soon as the weather Bet tles. A man named John Scherfole was arrested at Griffin Creek Tuesday by constable Singler of Medford, and placed in the county jail at this place to answer to the charge of forging a 'check on Frank Brown of Eagle Point.
