The 1896 season of rifle practice of the
Oregon National Guard closes the 31st of
this month. The Governor’s medal and
the Northwest Trophy may be contested
for by the different companies of the
state.
The ladies of the M. E. church gave a
social at the residence of T. K. Bolton
last Monday evening. The attendance
was fair, and a very enjoyable time was
had.

Last Monday evening, a man ami wife,
with a family of nine children, arrived
Ashland by team from Iowa. They
were in destitute circumstances, w ithout
money and provisions. The city gave
them assistance.
