The republican barl>ecue at Medford last Saturday was largely attended by people from all points of the valley. Medtcid residents said it was the largest crowd they had ever entertained. The attendence is estimated at from 8,000 to 10,000. Excursion cars were run from Grant’s Pass and Jacksonville. Ashland was well represented. The barbecue dinner was a success in all respects. Two beeves and two sheep were broiled, and in addition to a large supply of bread and pickles, made a good noon day meal for the crowd. The program of the afternoon consist ed of campaign speeches and music. The speakers were able politicians, and stirred up tiie free silver element in grand style.
