' ' ' '' . : LAW STUDENTS VISIT COURT The commercial law class visited the circuit couit loot .Wednesday, dur ing the entire afternoon session. The students heard some of the testimony direct from the witnesses,: the .-legal arguments of the attorneys, both to the Judge and the closing speeches to the jury, and the judge's instructions to the Jury before they left for de liberation. As many of the Class had not seen any court proceed ure before, it was highly Instructive and inter esting from a listener's standpoint. Mr Huffman teaches commercial law during the fourth period for the first semester. - ..;-...- ENGLISH CLASSES DRAW STAGE SETS Students in the English V classes under- Miss Palmer's instruction have had an. opportunity during the . last week to display their artistic ability. J' Mr. Blunt recently acquired a book entitled "The Horror of It," from Dr. Handsaker associate, secretary of the National Council For Prevention of War,.- This book contains a few poems and articles.. but is filled mainly with pictures which are actual pictures of the World war, taken on the front. It Is as it says, "camera records of war's gruesome glories." A great many students, and several teachers also, nave "put In requests" for It to Mr. Blunt. Girls' Basketball . " ' Uhde'r'Neiv, Rules This year the girls' basketball schedule Is being run on a different plan from what It has been previous ly. All the girls who wished to play signed up and-were assigned to one of thirteen teams. These teams have been playing games for two weeks now. and they will continue to do so for at least two more weeks; Then each girt who has played six games will be given five points, and the first teams will be chosen- After the first team games ha been played, the rest of the points will tie awarded. There are thirteen teams now with seven on a team. Five of the teams nre made m of freshmen, four of sophenores. two of Juniors and' two of. seniors. ' , f O. F.
