Gustavo meet at the Star Theatre next Monday night. O'Connell has been seen on the mat in La Grande, when he wrestled Fred Warner sev eral years ago. He is one of tht fastest and most scientific men in the tfume, and bo far ns he is ccmeorned. those "who attend the -event may res', assured that they will see one of tht greatest wrestlers in the world, of his weight, which is given at 158 pounds." Not so much is known of Gustavo but his workouts have been witnessed by good-sized crowds of local follow ers, and he impresses one as bem& a high class athleto who has a thor ough knowledge of the game. Good preliminaries have been 'pro vided, between Vern A ins worth, a pu pil of Ted Thye, and Young Smith, locul boy who h3 just returned from the service. These two youngsters worked out with Gustavo last night at Herman's lunch room, 'and each exhibited an exceptional knowledge of wrestling. This should furnish plenty of interest to those who at tend. Another preliminary has been arranged between Pat Foley and Ray McCurroll, of Pendleton, and the crowd may rest assured that Pat will give a good account of himself. Mr. Anderson has just received p. letter from O'Connell in which he states that he is in the best of condi tion, and that he expects fo leave La Grande with the winner's end of the purse. Taken all in all, next Monday's bill should bo one of the very best, that has ever been seen here. It is not often that smaller cities have the good fortune to see a wrestler of the abil ity of Eddie O'Connell, and from all appearances Gustavo is likely to prove the enual of the Portland man. The first preliminary will start promptly at 8 o'clock, and Promoter Anderson has promised that no unnecessary de lays will occur.
