Miss Ivy Head, until her recent resignation was chief librarian at the city library, left yesterday for a visit of about a month in Des Moines, Iowa. J. B. Smith, well known physician of Portland, has been in La Grande a few days looking over the eastern Oregon territory and now is taking in tno towns or Wiallowa county. Mrs. Roberts, wife of Train Din pa teller C. F. Roberts, has returned irom a visit in Enterprise. Mrs. J. D. Slater has foined he by odus"to the seaside and will remain for a while at North Beach. Thos. Duncan and wife, who have been on a visit at the head of Wal lowa lake, have returned home. Lot Elmer, well known Summerville resident, was an over night visitor in La Grando and returned this morning. Wall and her sister-in-law, Miss Wall, who is hero from tihe east, havo gone to the seaside for a summer outing.
