Joseph, Jan. 7. (Special.) Will iam Hogoboom, the race horse owner and driver, has just completed one of the finest barns in this locality. . Samuel Campbell of Imnaha. is vis iting his brother Charley in Joseph this week. - Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Forsman of Joseph, December 80, a daughter. ' George Martin went out to Flora last week to visit friends in that sec tion, returning Friday and bringing with him his sister, Mrs. Eddleman Polk Mays left Saturday for Port land and Fossil, Oregon, to visit rela tives. " ' ' The Joseph basketball team was defeated at Wallowa last Wednesday by a score of 42 to 11. The girls were also defeated by the score , of 3 to 2. This was one of the hardest fought games played in the county for years. . The Joseph team intends to play Jhem here in two weeks. Larris Ferrin, assistant cashier in the First National bank is visiting at his old home in Iowa during the holidays. ' .., Colon R. Shreffler arrived . in Joseph last Tuesday from Oberlin, Ohio, where he has bought a jewelry store. Mr. Shreffler came back to Joseph to sell out his jewelry stock here and will take his family to Ohio with him. Aaron Doak of Prairie creek, broke his leg while skating last week. Dr. Mount brought him to town to the home of his uncle Walter -Doak. Mrs. L. Connerly of Poison, Mont., and Mrs. Louis Wetzel of La Grande, are visiting with their parents, , Mr. and Mrs. F. B.
