This week will be marked by great activity In the fields. The first crop of alfalfa has been taken care of, and although considerable was damaged ' by the rains this valley escaped witlil less per cent, of damage than other localities In the northwest. The sec ond crop Is now nearly ready to be gin utting and other varieties of hay are nearly all out. Some wheat has already been head ed, hiTt tMs wov wVI roark the real beginning of the grain harvest. The farmers have been making prepara tlons for several days and much of the yellow field will be cut away this week. Below Ifollow the daily market re ports for La Grande.
