Endeavor to FJnd Truth In the Mutter . Has Not Availed Yet. Late developments at Walla Wa'la regarding the killing of "Mrs. W. J. Shaw by her supposed husband who until last week was a porter in a lo cal barber show. Indicate there Is some grounds for the charge and a theory that Shaw was not really the husband of the girl. The supposition developed at Walla Walla, according ' to newspapers from the Garden City, that Shaw and the woman tie killed were not married, as the girl lived under two names at Walla Walla.-To clear the mystery, the coroner sever al days ago telegraphed to the girl's mother to learn 'the facts In the case, but no answer had been received when the following was published in the Walla Walla Union: ......r ' "Coroner E. S. .Hennessey has re ceived no word from the mother ot Alice Shaw, the colored girl who was shot and killed by. W. J. Shaw short ly after noon Tuesday,' and he 1b nt a loss to account for the alienee of the mother. '.Ha stated she must have re ceived the telegram, or It would have been returned to the office and noti fication sent to this city. The mother, Mrs. Llllle Chapman of Franklin, Wn is shown to have advised the girl to stay out of the embroilment which caused her death. . .v 'w- "The body of the murdered woman lies at Hennessey's undertaking par lors and no funeral arrangements will be made until Mrs. Chapman is hoard from." " '''V Doth High School Tropic. .-" Mrs.' Shaw, if that was her name, was educated , in the Seattle high school and Shaw, too, was well edu-. cnted. MARIE JACKSON, W. M. MART A. WARNICK, Sec. There Has Not Been An Improve ment in Kerosene Lamps it the Past TWENTY-FIVE YEARS , The limit of their usefulness was reached years ago, Your present kerosene lamps aro no better, nor worse, than those your parents used. They are still dim, smoky and dirty; they still have to be cleaned and filled at regular periods.. Contrast this with progress made in electric lighting The first light globes were very crude compared with those of the present day. ,Yoii can have a bettor light now, for very little money, than you could have had a tew years ago at any price. You can have a better light now than you had five years ago, at about halt tho price you would have paid then. The old argument about the high cost of eloctriclty is obsolete. Modern science and invention have overcome the lust and only objection' to electric lights. ', Lot, us ndvlso you about your light; we can save you money. Call i or phone Main 34.
