What Is con sldared'the most Important move In livestock circles since ; the location by the Swift interests of a big stock' yards and packing plant at Portland is ,the organization of the Portland Cat:le Loan company, which has just been effected. ' This concern proposes to give financial aid to .farmers and stockmen who feed livestock for the Portland market : ': It will have a fundf of ,$1,000,000 to loan, enabl'ng farmers to buy cattle for fattening, and wilj no doubt add largely to the number, of livestock brought to .this, market. There Is a vast difference be tween the citizen and the adven turer The adventurer Ih u mnn who takes all be can out of a city for himself, whereas the cit izen takes all be can out of him self to put Into a city. It mekes no difference where a man lives In a municipal lodging house or a palace or whether be la tbe ' head of a great corporation or carrying on some small jrraft or holding up a boy In the street for the change In bis pockets, If he is taking out of tbe city for himself what he can get he ts an adventurer. The average view 1b that tbe city Is a good place in which to do business, and make money. It is the rarest man or woman In a thousand who ever stops to think that the real business of the city Is to get good and to do good. Est. ; Thomas R, Blicer. Xotice of First Meeting of Creditors.
