PROSPERITY vs. POVERTY
Paying rent leads but to one end-poverty. Then why
not yut your rent money into your own home. We will -:
sell you a home just to suit your condition on rent
terms. The accumulation of property leads always to
prosperity. Come in and talk this matter over with
us and you will be convinced. ',

Portland, Ore., June 6. What Is con
sldared'the most Important move In
livestock circles since ; the location
by the Swift interests of a big stock'
yards and packing plant at Portland
is ,the organization of the Portland
Cat:le Loan company, which has just
been effected. ' This concern proposes
to give financial aid to .farmers and
stockmen who feed livestock for the
Portland market : ':
It will have a fundf of ,$1,000,000 to
loan, enabl'ng farmers to buy cattle
for fattening, and wilj no doubt add
largely to the number, of livestock
brought to .this, market.
"This company' will enable men
with hay and grain to by cattlo for
feeding purposes," sa'a D. O. Lively,
vice president and manasrtr n tue y h
ion StocVyaids eompanv. "Tho great
movement of tU'n cat'lo from sIdalo
and Oregon to South Dalsofa and Utah
.should be checked. The great sums
of money now being sent to the Mls-Btnu-i
river country for cattlo will stay
in the Columbia river basin '' ;
The. benefits to come from lliis new
concern will not be limited to any one
state but will be distributed through
out the Pacific northwest and will
doubtless give a great stimulus to the
livestock Industry."'

THE GOOD CITIZEN. ,.
There Is a vast difference be

no difference where a man lives
In a municipal lodging house
or a palace or whether be la tbe '
head of a great corporation or
carrying on some small jrraft or
holding up a boy In the street
for the change In bis pockets, If
he is taking out of tbe city for

in which to do business, and
make money. It is the rarest
