There are several kinds ot drilling but the kind the kind that makes the farm pay is the drilling which makes water avail able. There is no need of a dry farm. TKe task is not so great as you may think. I have had years of experience and understand the well busi ness thoroughly. For dash and ginger, get up and go some comedy, "Polly and me" as pre sented by the stock company at the Pastime theater last night should have the honors. While the play is a comedy alright, still there la a strong interesting plot, and touches of pa thos here and there that relieves the comedy element. Of course there Is a love story and a good one too. that la most gracefully played by Nanyon Seward as Mary, and Mr. Russel Har rison as Julian. The many friends of Miss Steward wore present in force and gave her a hearty greeting. 'Her conception of her part was natural and artistic and Mr. Russell Harriiion gave splendid support Miss Bertha Natlno was, as she al ways is, clever in the part of Mrs. Hildebrandt. While the role is by far the most difficult one in the cast. It received an exceptionally fine por trayal In the hand of thu pllshed actress. "Polly" was "there" all the time and Miss Lucile Tucker seemed the part Itself. Her "hit" was marked throughout the entire audience and her song in act four delighted all. Mr. Leonard was well cast and Nor man Gray was happy In the tough old Jim Brandon. Carl De Vere came In for a large share of applause in the two widely different characters of "Biddy" and "Jake". Mr. Curtlss is a host himself as "Peter" and It Is safe to say that the house will be packed at each performance of the piece. Thursday night the same cast will be seen in the story of the early days, !'The Girl of the Golden West." ReselitUa.
