Jacobs arrived from Bakp- - ity yesterday morning and took -j rom at the Blue Mduntaln hotel. Th mdlady bf the. house noticed that h cted very queerly and reported hln J the-offlcers. Black watched hin ntil late, and though lie noticed th ianB queer actions, he saw no reas n why he should make an arrest. Ir, he afternoon a Mr. Hiatt reported 3 the officer that he had been drug ed, and described Jacobs as the mar ho gave him the doped whiskey. Tht Ulcer then went to the Blue Mountain louse where he found aged in mixing several Ingredients le was taken to the city jail and cked up. It has Blnce devloned that Thrls Simpson and Dan Rogers were .lso drugged In the afternoon. Slmn- on states that he will testify that he vas drugged but Is not sure that the nan Jacobs waa the man who gave iim dope. , He says that he took two Irlnks of near beer with him knd Immediately afterwards felt the ef fect of, the drug Dan Rogers could aot be found up to late hour-this af ternoon. It is said by Hiatt that the fellow who. gave him . drugged booze went through his clothing In a search for valuables, but found . none. He re fuses to promise to testify against Jacobs, who when arrested last even ing , had with, him two pint bottles, two half pints, and a quart of whis key, besides some kind of drug in a Llquodlclde. bottle. This morning at an early hour Of ficer Black went, to the man's room at til Slue Mountain House and secured Ms "grip. . It contained cooking uten sils.' a sack of chlttim bark, a sack of 'emons, some coffee and a bottle of earbolic acid. Jacobs says that he came down from Baker " City yesterday and brouEht the whiskey with him for his own use. He also says that he never sold nor gave away any whiskey yesterday and that he was weakening the stuff when arrested. He says that he took two drinks of his own whiskey yesterday in one or the Joints on Jefferson av enue and that he never had a drink at any time with any of the men al leged to have been drugged. After Investigation of the evidence which they could obtain against Jac obs, and finding that It would not con vict, the officers released him this af ternoon..
