Mrs. George Grout arrived home yesterday from Albany, where she at tended the Rebekah assembly. Mrs. IS. E. Slater and Miss May Neill returned tMa afternoon from an over-Sunday visit to Elgin. Misses Frankie Heritage and Made line Hill, of Union, spent Sunday with friends in this city and left this morn ing for Pendleton to attend the East ern Oregon track meet. Tomorrow evening is the' date Bet for the Sunday school spread at, the M. E. church.. The affair will be a pleasant one and Is open to all Sun day school members. Joe Carr and Walter Neider, who left Saturday morning for the Wal lowa country on a fishing exceursion, returned with some fish this after noon. The peace demonstration given by the societies of the Mormon church yesterday was a very pleasing one, and a large number of visitors were present.' - , R. II. He has lost his sight completely, but hopes to receive benefit at the hands of specialists.. Dr. Nevlus, the pioneer Episcopal minister, was in La Grande last eve ning en route to his home from Baker City.
