At 8 this morning less than a third of the total ballots In Colorado were counted. Those of the important precincts, chairmen of both state committees are claiming the state -by from 8000 to 12,000. .In the state 472 precincts out of 1123 give Taft 29,191, and Bryan 28, 308: scattered ballots, 65,707. Returns from 14 Denver preelricti Indicate a democratic victory m the city. , e publlcan congressmen, except one democrat, will probably be elected. The democratic legislature will elect a successor to Senator Teller. Ohio State Ticket Doubtful. Columbus, O., Nov. 4. Democratic leaden today concede Taft carried the state by 50,000. V . Harmon, the - democratic nominee lor governor, was elected by an equally large plurality. ' Returns from the farming sections are slow in coming in Harris, repub lican nominee for governor, was slaughtered in the cities by the liberal element. This la one of the.llghtest votes ever cast In Union countyw It was a beau tiful day. The weather was perfect. The returns show that the apathy was not confined to, one party, but to all. Right here in La Grande there were several hundred who did not take t)te trouble of casting their Votes.
