Tho Indian from the Umatilla reser vation, who was In the city yesterday seeking to replevin a horse found in this valley by tho owner, the redman's sister, returned today to his rcserva tion. tl is likely that tha agent of Indian affairs on the reservation will pick up tho prosecution, as the Indian is short of funds. Seattle will hang up (20,000 for har ness events In 1909. Ambition . with some men consists chiefly in finding fault with their present condition. As a result of this opinion. It Is not believed at the postoffice that there Will be a material reduction In box rent of the lock box kind. Even some of tho Inhabitants of the residence districts are going to 'retain their postoffice boxes for a month at least to learn the efflicency of the de livery. In this, or rather a large part of It the cltirens make a mistake. Two carriers will be supplied In this city until business assumes such pro portions that they cannot handle it Then, additional carriers will be put on. Unless allpatrons of the postof fice accept the service of these two carriers, there will be unnecessary de lay In securing additional, carriers, as the limited number of patrons will re duce the bulk of mall to such dlmen- slons that the two can handle It for some time to come. The proper way Is for everybody to become accus tomed to the carrier's whistle even though the mall Is not secured until after It Is cold, figuratively speaking The citizens are now fully Inoculated with the spirit of receiving their mnll the moment It Is distributed, but grad ually thjs will die, out until practically everyone Is wl'llng to wait until the carrier brings It.
