Sitting In a day coach on tho Spo kane flyer last Wednesday morning a week ago, bound for; Spokane, --and while the train was nearlng Walla Walla, H. C. Willis was tapped on tho shoulder and accosted aa above by some one standing In the aUle and, upon looking around, saw W. J. E. Prultt, says the Pendleton Tribune. As they grasped hands Willis said: "Hello, Prultt, where are you going?" "Off for Chicago," was tho reply, and he went on,, presumably,, Willis says, and as he thought at the time, for the diner In quest of some breakfast Mr. Willi says he thought nothing more of the Incident since a good many people go to Chicago, until yos terdny morning, when he read In the Tribune a reference to his mysterious disappearance In nn account of the re- turn of Deputy District Attorney Fer guson. He at once came to this of fice and reported the abovo facts. He says Prultt seemed very pleasant and was well dressed. It hns d'-veloped within tho past two days that Prultt recently told an Intimate friend or two that ho Intend ed soon to go and see his daughter (by his first wife) who Is living In Iowa, and whom he has not seen for several years. The supposition Is that Prultt bought a ticket at Pendleton last Tuesday night a week ago and took the Spokane flyer at Umatilla. Tiinrsmxo M.vciiixKs nvnx. The first machine to burn was that of Isaac Christopher, who has a ranch near Adams. The machine was run .nlng at the time and suddenly blew up. It then caught fire and was al most totally destroyed. No Insurance was curried on the outfit. Shortly after the ChrlHtophor fire, Prank lirotherton's machine caught fire and burned while traveling from one sotting to nnother. The machine win m ar Vansyrlp, and the origin of the fire Is a mystery. It was probably tf'.ie to a spark from the engine or elce rntvli-ssnt'M on the part of some one In the threshing crew. Tho Ftrothorton thresher was a stvnnir, and the loss was appraised at lilOO. It wns Insured in the Na tional Fire Insurance company, and W. A. Oelsley, agent for the rom p.iny. wns here lit tho time. He set tled the loss today. I The third threhlng machine fire' was on the Hudenuin place, near II0-1 llx. and detail Concerning the same are lacking. GrartTng lo a dead Issue. 80 ssys Dr. IL C.
