Sam Kidder, one of the well known pioneers of eatern Oregon, who fol lowed the freighting business for sev eral years, later engaged In the sheep business In Baker county, has disposed of his extensive Interests and has gone to live in Portland. The many friends of Mrs. Pete Thei- sen will be. plensed to learn that her fever has left her, and she Is consid ered out of danger. Mr. Tullls says visiting in La Grande at this time Is Jike a vaca tion at' a summer resort. In fact the weather Is so delightful here that Mr, Tullls will probably not return until September some time. Harvey Thomas, of Mountalnhomo, Idaho, who spent yesterday in this city .with his old-timo schoolmate, C, M. Humphreys, returned home this morning. Mr. Humphreys gave him an opportunity to see a portion of the valley and after taking a hurried look Thomas pronounced the Grande Ronde valley tho most beautiful spot he had seen in the west. The 800-foot loading platform and shed is finished mid stand a symbol of the policy ac tuating tho company thoroughness. The large dry sheds are slowly taking shape, though workmen huve ' been working on them only at leisure hours in the past.
