One orchard, that of Mr. George Thomas, will pro duce a crop, picking of -which will soon commence, the lowest estimate on which is 80,000 pounds ' I Dr. Mackenzie expressed himself aa being delighted with the Grande Ronde valley.' He has lived in Port land 26 years, and has been through this part of the state many times, but ; never before had any idea that there -Is in the state of Oregon such an Eden as the Grande Ronde valley. Dr. Mackenzie also paid a high compliment to those who have been Instrumental In giving to La Grande the Grande Ronde hospital, when he said that In his opinion the facilities for the successful treatment of dis ease, both surgical and medical, are as modern and complete In tho city of La' Grande as they are In any other city wherever located.
