"The postponed meeting of stock holders In the State Bank of Cove will be held on May 20. Mrs. Sutherland of Cove, who last evening was In an extremely precari ous condition. Is -lightly improved to day. Attorney J. F. Baker and his mother returned today from Emmett, Idaho, where Mrs. Baker has been visiting for some time. William Miller returned today from California, where he has ben visiting friends and seeing sights for the past two weeks. , Conductor James Conners of the La Orande freight division of the O. He says that the pr;. ent rains mean many dollars to th farmers of Union county. County Chairman J. H. Peare of the Union county republican central com mlttee, returned this morning from Portland where he went as a delegate from this county to the district and state 'conventions. He reports the convention as a very quiet affair and the outcome very satisfactory to a ma jority of the delegates from this county. Dwlght Barnes of Elgin, re turned with him.. Rlnehart, democratic candl date 'for assessor, was a La Grnndo visitor this afternoon, Mr. Rlnehart sas that during his travels over the Grande Rondo valley he has come to ths conclusion that the crop this year will be the largest In the history of the county. He says he never saw the grain looking finer nor does he be lieve that he has ever seen such a large acreage In grain. Mr. Rlnehart has been a resident of this county for more than 37 years and has been a close observer, therefore, when he says the conditions are the best he has ever seen, he speaks as one who "knows whereof he speaks."
