Doc Waddell arrived here from Ba ker City last rilght a quarter of an hour before the train came and both left Baker at the same hour. Wad dcll did this on a bet of $100, and winning it he demonstrated that the elephant he is riding over the country Is faster than the steam cars. An Old Maine Boy. Advertising car No. 1 of the Sells Floto circus Is here. The manager, W. K. Roddy, was born near Haines. He has 20 btll posters, who today are billing the great Sells-Floto circus for La Grande Friday, May 29. Hun dreds of people are waiting for this Show. They know It Is big, good and clean. BOOKS (LOSE The county registration books close tonight at 6 o'clock, and for a period of several months will be stored away In th vault at thu clerk's office. They will be reopened again for regis tratlon prior to the presidential elec tion next fall. ' There have been but 150 voters, ap proximately, who have registered since the primary election was held. This amount added to the total reg istration when the books closed for the primaries, leaves yet five or six hun dred unregistered voters In Union county.
