Some time ago when the officials visited this city a delegation from the Citlxens' league and the Business Men's association waited upon them and of fered to donate the stone for the building If the company would erect it. W. J. Patterson has just received a letter from Mr. O'Brien in Portland. Informing him that he had asked for an appropriation of $15,000 for a building at Baker and with the stone donated by the citizens, the cost will proDaoiy total $20,000. This Is an improvement that the citizens have been seeking for many months. Besides probubly securing the new depot for Baker City the booster or ganlzations have Just completed a can vans In which they secured more than 14000 to boost Baker City and county. This money wlll be spent In sending matter descriptive of this county to people in eastern states and many In qulrles and replies are being received dally from the advertising which Is The Citizen's league has taken up the offer of Portland to send a float representing this city and section of the country and In conjunction with the Business ' Men's association they wllKprobably send a monster gold float to represent Baker county In the Rose carnival In June.
