Mr. Goodbrod has been In very poor health for quite a while, but if regaining his former health. The ladies of the Kaffee Klatch were entertained this afternoon at the home- of Mrs.' J. J. Carr. Dainty re freshments were served and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Mr. and Mrs. O. W, Roden and lit tle son William, arrived in La Grande last night from Butte, Mont and will visit at the home of Roadmaster and Mrs. G. W. Nelson. Mr. Roden and Mrs. Nelson are brother and sister. Rev. Horace Ramsey of Portland, arrived In the city last evening to visit with his father. Judge Ramsey. The Current Topic club .met this afternoon at the home, of F. B. Cur rey, with Mesdames F. B. Currey and George II. Currey aa hostesses. The topic for discussion was "Future America." Lunch waa served and a very protitr.ble afternoon waa spent. Hams. The negative won. The pro gram was enlivened by recitation by Ora Brown. Sarah Smith and Marjorle MoCalt, aud a solo by Naomi Simmons. , The Great Sucwws. The greatest success achieved la the last decade by any "Uncle Tom'a Cab In" company Is that won by Stetson's, which' plays -on Monday, January 13, at the Steward. Of all the dramatic successes known, there are none that equal this great play. It is estab lished In popular favor here as well as everywhere else, and needs no en dorsement from other cities. It Is sufficient to say that it will be pre sented by an excellent company of 60 persons and with new and elaborate scenery gotten up for this season's tour.
