H. Ackerman is to resign his office to ac cept the presidency of the State Agricult ural College at Corvallis. and should this prove to be true, it is whispered around that Governor Chamberlain will appoint ilnion county's superintendent, E. E. Bragg, to fill the vacancy, caused by the resignation of Superintendent Ackerman. Time will prove the correctness of these fc uiobable possibilities. However should "the Governor be placed in a position where he should be called upon to fill this vacancy, he couid select no one who would give better satisfaction than Supt. Brajg. JIM IS DEAD "Jim" the well known bird dog was accidently shot last evening. Wherever there was the smelt of powder you would always find him, and consequently he was a constant visitor at the shooting g allery on Depot street. Yesterday, T B Johnson jonnson was loading a rifle preparatory to shooting when the weapon was acci dently discharged, the bullet hitting the dog which was romping about in front of the table. mmws opera D.
