MURDER AT PENDLETON Pendleton, Oct. 18 Tom Myers is dead and old man Hironimus is seriouly wounded as a result ot a deadly fight on North McKay this afternoon. Thus far the reports of the affair have been very mea gre, but from parties living on the head of McKay it was learned that the quarrel occurred over some horses. Hironimus is said to have accused Myers of having ridden horses belonging to the former, and in a quarrel which ensued, guns were used by bot'- men. Myers fired twice at Hironimous while the latter fired once at Myers with a shotgun, striking him in the neck and killing him instantly. The condition of Hironimous is serious and he is now being brought to this city for surgical aid. In all, fines totaling $108,000 have been imposed on the New York Central by Judge Holt of the federal court, for grant ing rebates to the American Sugar Re fining Company. SMALL POX IN WALLA WALLA Ignorant of the nature of the disease he was suffering with. Ira Fancher, who came to Walla Walla from Boise 10 days ago, walked the streets and mingled with the crowds a week ago Saturday, while ill with a well defined case of smallpox. Fancher is quarantined at his parents' home in College Place and County Health Office Stewart has notified City Physician Braden to keep a close watch for a poss ible epidemic of smallpox, resulting from rancher mingling with the shopping crowds before he became aware that he was suffering with the d sease.
