The packers sol , icited the conference -which was short and lively. The packers refused to comment on thT conference They are agrieved because Secretary Wilson critcised them .'or eheir "Grudging spirit- of economy" before visiting the plants. The secretary suggested to the packers a number of improvements. The conference was apparently onpleas antto the packers. All who attended were gloomy at the close. Each carried a copy of the new federal law, the pro visions of which it is believed the secre tary made clear to them. .
