He found the packers correcting the sanitary arrangements, according to his suggestions. He states. that as long as the packers are making strenuous efforts toward bringing their plants to tKe government standard there will be no quarrel, Wilson spent most of the day in confer ence with inspectors of other cities and gave them advice concerning the enforce ment of the new law, much of which must be left in the hands of the inspectors as to the passing or rejecting of infected carcasses. Meade Emory, was formerly charged with murder this after noon. He will be examined as to his sanity Stringent measures are being taken to se cure knowledge of the affair from the jury in case of George Mitchell, who is being tried for the murder of the "Holy Roller" Crewhled, as Miuhell is trjng to escape on the insanity plea. The Mitchell case goes to the jury th's afternoon. It is expected that the verdict will either be for a short term or an ac quilal. Revolting facts regarding the system of the Holy Rollers and its leader have been brought out during the trial and much empathy is the result in favor ofthe prisoner. STRIKE (Scrlpps News Association) San Francisco, July 10 Chief of pilice Dinan, this morning detailed thirty police men as a special detail la watch the water front during the sailor i' strike. This action is the result of the mayor's beliei that the strike will be long drawn out. The mayor acknowledged this morning that all his efforts to bring the sailors and employers together were futile and thai the strike would be fought to the bitter end.' The mayor also annouiced that h would not relax his effoits toward mak ing a settlement, but that he had little hopes of accomplishing any benifiuial re sults.
