B. Taggart was fined four thousand and sentenced to three months on a previous sentence. The Court overruled the motion for a new trial. Judge McPherson. while delivering the sentence reviewed each case in detail and dwelt particularly upon the manner in which the rebates had been paid in cur rency, by messenger or in a plain envelope. Iver.s convicted of the murder of Mrs. Bessie Hollisier on January 1 2. of this year was executed oy hanging in the county jail this noon. The crime for which Ivens was executed was one of the most at trocious attacks upon women in the police history of Chicago. On the evening of January 12 Ivens was standing at Belden Avenue an alley near Lincoln Avenue when Mrs. Hollister came by. He acc osted her, pursued her half way across Burligg street muffled her out cries by holding his hand over tier mouth and nose and dragged her into a dark corner at the rear of his father's carpenter shop There he fiendishly assaulted her and murdeied her by twisting a copper wire around her throat. The district attor ney will commence his closing arguments in the case this afternoon and the jury will retire by tomorrow noon. A movement it now on foot to establish a policy hold ers association for the purpose of forc ing companies into court, if necessary, to make a more satisfactory settlement.
