The man who learns to seek power within, who learns to rely upon himself, is never disappointed; but he always will be disappointed when he depends upon any outside help. There is one person in the world that will never fail if you ' de pend upon him, and are honest with him; and that is, yourself. It is the self re liant man that is in demand everywhere. Vegetarians are opening restaurants in the eastern cities as a result of the pack ing house disclosures. They may run for a time, but people generally hanker for the flesh pots and it is the appstite, not ethics, that will govern. After an experience of several years the city of Richmond. Ind, has sold its gas plant, having found municipal owner ship unprofitable. The committee on sports are busy as bees framing up their list of entertainments and while La Grande for years has been noted for her true sportive tendencies, this year they will show what they are made of Last year it will be remembered that La Grande has a splendid display of fire works and that will be surpassed this time, it is true that the time is limited but there is plenty for the committees who are at work to show all visitors and home people a Fourth that will give them all the necessary excitment that the most festive will desire.
