Delaware has left open its senatorial
question as to whether it was the tainted
politics or the tainted money that gave

The virtual system of negro slavery
established in one of the counties of
southeast Missouri suddenly stopped
when Uncle Sam discovered it It may

CREAM SEPARATORS !
STOP!" and think before you buy a sep- '
arator. There are many things to be con
s.dered in the purchase of a cream sepaiator.
You want the lightest running machine on the
market. You want the machine that is the
easiest to wash and keep clean, you also want
the machine that will produce all the butter fat
And above all you want a durable machine so
that you wont be continually paying for repairs.
Now the famous Empire Separator is the ma
chine you want as it has all these advantages
over every other machine on the market.
Any company can make claims but let us
show you the Soparator that makes good
La Grande is going to show the peo
pie what a genuine good time is this year.
There will be no waits. There will be
something doing evjry minute.
It will cost the government $300,000
just to secure the blank paper on which
to print the supply of paper currency for
1 907. This will prove a good investment
however, because Uncle Sam will manu
facture the paper into notes and bills with
the face value of $765,000,000. The
biggest item in this total is the $5 de
nomination in which there will be $184.
000.000, there will be 93.000,000 one
dollar bills and $140,000,000 of five
dollar certificates.

The man who learns to seek power
within, who learns to rely upon himself,
is never disappointed; but he always will
be disappointed when he depends upon
any outside help. There is one person in
the world that will never fail if you ' de
pend upon him, and are honest with him;
and that is, yourself. It is the self re
liant man that is in demand everywhere.
Vegetarians are opening restaurants in
the eastern cities as a result of the pack
ing house disclosures. They may run for
a time, but people generally hanker for
the flesh pots and it is the appstite, not
ethics, that will govern.
After an experience of several years
the city of Richmond. Ind, has sold its
gas plant, having found municipal owner
ship unprofitable. The main discovery
about public ownership so far is that it
depends on the management,

careful analysis. The contents of each
medicine will be published in a weekly
bulletin to be issued by the department,

the medicines contain opiates, alcohol or
other deleterious substances, the fact
will be published together with the
quantity.

La Grande is going to make a special
ty of sprots this fourth. The ball boys
will soon be able to announce the team
that will contest honors with them. The
band will discourse splendid music throuh-
out the day and in the evening will give
a grand ball. The firemen have receiv
ed challenges from two outside compan-
ies and undoubtedly the tournament will
be no small feature. The committee on
sports are busy as bees framing up their
list of entertainments and while La
Grande for years has been noted for her
true sportive tendencies, this year they
will show what they are made of
Last year it will be remembered that
La Grande has a splendid display of fire
works and that will be surpassed this
time, it is true that the time is limited
but there is plenty for the committees
who are at work to show all visitors and
home people a Fourth that will give them
all the necessary excitment that the
most festive will desire.
