Brown had been promoted to the first vice presidency of: the New York Central at a salary of $?5,0Q0 per annum. This is probably one of the highest active railway positions . in the United States. Mr. Brown has been identified with the New York Central for many years, but is well known in Iowa, having formerly been identified with the Illinois Central at Waterloo. He started his railway cireer about thirty-five years agj as a mjssen ger boy.
