Arthur Brill, ths nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Hen-y Brill, of this city, will make a close- second for David, the young man who was so handy with his pebbles and sling. History records that David had good success with a buckskin string and a smooth rock, but Arthur was equally successful with a three cor nered rock and ns catipult other than his good right arm. Yesterday while playing near the river, his keen eye detected a large hawk sitting on a limb of a tree, and well knowing that the presence of the bird of prey boded ill for the Brill poultry. the young gentleman picked up a sharp edged rock and promptly knocked the otna on tne percn. I oung Aruiur orougnt one wing to the Observer office and the' specimen was promptly tur, ed over to the birdologist who, after making careful measurements and frequent references to the natural hisury, gave it as his opin ion that the bird, when intact was capa ble of extending his wings to a distance of five feet six inches', and able to clean out the chicken yard in about three days and two mornings. Therefore the neigh borhood should extend a standing vote of thanks to Master Brill for having saved the chicken Industry in Union county.'
