Some five thousand of tbasa huga knives have been issued to the troops in the Philippines, by whom they are to be used in cutting paths throjgh the thick under brush, rather than as weapons. They have bsco ne indispenca le in that cap city, and it has now been decided, on tie recommendation of the General Staff rf the Army to extend the machete to field artillery troops at home and add that implement to the Individual equipment of of the light artillerymen in the field.
