There is not business man anywhere but would jump at such a proposition. - While no individual could possibly se cure such returns, we know that such an amount invested would result in such an amount being invested in this valley. . . . READ OUR CUOOESTION . At the present time there are daily passing through our city anywhere from fifty to one hundred and fifty home seek- whn ftr months and vears of care ful consideration have decided to make their homes in the west. Not all but many bring -sufficient means to buy and fix up comfortable homes. They want just such opportunities as Crande Ronde valley offers. Not one in one hundred knows that there is a Grande Ronde val ley, Until they get a view coming down the mountain and before they can realize what their eyes behold, they p unge once more into the mountains at d they pro ceed onward to the terminal points namea on their tickets. Right here let it be remembered that the tickets give the holder the right to stop over at any point ten days, however. many do not know they have this privi lege. ) ONLY A FEW NEEDED To produce the results as stated in the opening paragraph in this article we only need fifty families.- What, fifty families will bring in $380,000? Yes, very easy as we will show you and the most im portant thing is, we believe we will be able to demonstrate how easily these fifty families can be secured. AITKIN IN EUGENE J. H. Aitkin of Huntington, candidate for state treasurer, was in the city Wed nesday looking after his interests with reference to his candidacy. . Mr. Aitkin made this o.Tlcj a pleasant call and pressed the political man as a strong and clean man.--.Eugene Register. City Recorder. $1,01! is by. tue tiire-Tliey HOW WE GET IT 60, 80 acre tracts at $50 per ' . acre ..Z $200,000 50 new houses at $1200 each.. 60.000 50 new barns at $300 each ,, 15.000 To furnish fifty new farms and homes with furniture, imple- . merits, fencing, cows, horses, organs, pianos, ecL, $1000. each.. . 50.000 $380,000 AFTER THE FIFTY FAMILIES They are going past us daily ' and the question is how to get them. You can't catch fish in a stream where there are no fish, but we know thereis a stream of people passing us by. We maintain that "$500 invested as follows will secure ihe fifty families and possibly more. . - $500 will keep a qualified man at two points, Pocatello and Hunt.ngton, to meet .hese people and tell them of Grande t?onde valley. These men should be iupplied with descriptive literature, with samples of our fruit, with photographs, ecL, and out of the hundreds that i ass by we can get several hundred to stop off and look over the valley and out of the many that do stop during the reason ot homeseekers' rates, we can easily get the fifty families who will invest tre $380,000 as above mentioned. At any rate is it not worth trying? Properly presented, the city, the county and the La Grande Commercial Club could raise the $500 between now and the first of March and the scheme put in to practical operation. Mow is the time to act, the people are enroute, they are going by, and out of the many, fifty fami lies could be easily obtained, it is some body s move, who will act? . .
