Notice is hereby given that the annua
city election for tbe city of La Grande
Oregon, will take place in said city.
on the 12th day of March, 1906, and that
the polls for such election will be open
from the hour of 9 o'clock a. m. until
p. m. said day.
That said election will be for the pur
pose of electing the following named
officers:
One mayor, one city recorder, one city
marshal, one city treasurer, one council
man from the first ward, said city, one
councilman from the second ward, said
city, one councilman from the third ward
said city, and two cotmcilmen from the
fourth ward, said city '
That there will be submitted to the tax
paying voters of said city, the following
propositions to be voted upon:
(a) Shall the said city of La Grande
acquire the springs situated south of said
city, known as the Falk Springs and the
Schilling Springs, and pipe the waters
thereof to the reservoir of said city, at
cost not to exceed $12,000. '
(b) Shall the city of La Grande retire
the present ..outstanding bonds of s
city, drawing six per cent interest, and
lieu thereof issue bonds not drawing
exceed five per cent

the fifty families who will invest tre
$380,000 as above mentioned. At any
rate is it not worth trying?
Properly presented, the city, the county
and the La Grande Commercial Club
could raise the $500 between now and
the first of March and the scheme put in
to practical operation. Mow is the time
to act, the people are enroute, they are
going by, and out of the many, fifty fami
lies could be easily obtained, it is some
body s move, who will act? . .
JUNIOR'S SOCIAL
The Methodist church was well filled
last evening, attending the social given
by the Junior League. An unusually good
program was rendered by the boys and
girls, including two numbers by the Adam
sisters, of Portland, who are in the city,
Refreshments in abundance were served
all had a jolly good time and will welcome
another opportunity to hear the Juniors,
and enjoy an evening with them.
