Union ciunty, Iowa, as well as Union county, Oregon, came up from Cove Wednesday to see a sister just arrived from the east horn he had not seen for 42 vmrn.1 Mr Wright had wlW" nlm a bronze medal which was awarded him for exhibiting the largest potatoes in the world at the St Louis World's .Fair. The potatoes were of the Irish extraction and were grown on Mr. Wright's farm near Medi cal Springs. Just why the exposition authorities should iim iMimWmi bronze medal as an award for the : finest potatoes in the world is not quite plain. Mr. Wright accepts the medal gracefully but anyone knows that the Irish potato is one of the principal food product of ' the world and that a gold medal of double value would be none too good for Mr. Wright Scout HOUSE WARMING . The new and commodious farm house of J. C. Stein on the Stein farm four miles east of La Grande, was a scene of great toy and much activity last night, when a large number of their neighbors gathered in to assist, in dedicating the Same. It was in the nature of a surprise, and the family was truly caught napping, but very soon the house wa put in order, and the merriment of the evening began. There were gamee for old and ypung, and none could ay "there wa no place for me." ; A fast as they grew weary of one kind of entertainment another was ready. There wa a continual, round uf ' merrymaking until 11 o'clock when they were ordered to choose partner for luncheon, which wa furnished from the well ladened basket of the intruders. This, accom panied by some very choice music from a graphophone, made it the most enjoyable part of the evening. - : ' - At 12:30 all departed for their homes feeling that the ovening had been well spent, and a kind recollection of the royal entertainment at the hand of the Stein family, will ever be cherished by all who were there.
