CRI11CI5M SOON' CONFOUNDED In its issue of November 16th. the In dependent,' of Few York City, in a sp;rit of fairness, gave the medical fraternity an opportunity to refuse Dr. Still's argu ments for Osteopathy, which we have quoted on pages 3, 4 and 6. The article was written by James J. Walsh. M. D Ph. D., of the New York Polyclinic School for Graduates in Med cine and of Ford ham University. Dr. Walsh is also a member of the editorial staff Medical News, New York, and the Internationa! Clinics Philadelphia, J Dr. Walsh's article is largely devoted to ridiculing the idea that Dr. Still can have possibly discovered a cause for 95 per cent of all diseases which has been over looked by the "regular" medical men of centuries. In this Dr. Walsh presents no tangible argument and overlooks the fact that Dr. Still himself it a "regular," hav ing long practiced medicine before evolv ing Osteopathic procedure. Dr. Walsh doe not' deny that Osteopa thy is curing people in large numbers constantly, but he alleges that this is simply due to the fact that people are made believe it so thoroughly tha,t their very faith helps them to health. No one will deny that a belief that he is going to get well always helps the patient whether he be taking Osteopathic treat ment or doses of medicine; but the best commentary upon this argument by Dr. Walsh lies in the well-known fact that th: V-!!: ? r.ntM unJ Aured bv Osteopathy undertake treatment" without confidence and simply because other sys tems have failed;' when .they find relief they begin tq believe; . and when cure comes they become enthusiasts whom Dr. Walsh believe have been cured by "faith." Of course they have faith, after they have found health. . . ,' Good Advice Don't be a kicker no man ever made a dollar kicking but a professional ball player. No man ever helped himself up permanently by kicking hie neighbor down. Give other a kind word and give it freely. It won't cost a penny, and re member you may want a good word some day. You may have thousand today and tomorrow b without the price of a (have. Don't be a kicker. It doesn't pay. You can't afford it There is nothing in it If you want to throw something at some body, throw cologne, and don't throw mud and brickbat.- If you feel that way you are the man that need kicking.
