County Court Proceedings Wednesday. Jan. 8, 1913, 6th Ju dicial day. Court came pursuant to adjourn ment Officers all present Due proclamation being made, the following proceedings were had: Matter of Undertaking of A. E. Thompson. Sheriff. On this day A. E. Thorn peon presents to the Court his official undertaking In the sum of $10,000, and an additional undertaking in the sum of 13000 as tax collector, which said undertakings are duly approved by the court. Matter of drawing jury list: On this day the court completes the selection of the jury list com posed of 200 names selected from the tax roll as by law provided. Matter of aid to Jutila family: On this day it is ordered by the court that the Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to issue a general fund warrant in favor of Thos Basse, in the sum of $20 for aid of Jutila family. Whereupon. Court adjourned un til Thursday. Jan. 9, 1913. Thursday, Jan. 9, 1913, 7th ju dicial day. Court came pursuant to adjourn ment. Officers all present Due proclamation being made the following proceedings were had: Matter of tax levy for years 1912 and 1913, and of the estimated amounts to be raised for the several purposes: On this 9th day of January. 1913, this matter coming on for the con sideration of the court, and it ap pearing to the court from the estl mates now made that it will be necessary to raise $18,432.25 for state purposes; $28,496 for school purposes; $356.20 for library; $72.97 for S. and S. indigent fund; $40,092.20 for county; $43,785.04 for general road. And it appearing to the court that the total amount of assessable prop erty of the count-, as appears by the assessment rolls for the year 1912, is $14,595,015.00. That in order to raise the afore said amounts for the state, school, library and S. and S. indigent fund and county purposes, it will be necessary to levy a tax of 6 mills upon all the assessable property of the county, and to raise the sum of $43,785.04, for general road pur poses it will be necessary to levy a tax of 3 mills upon all the assessable property within the county. It is therefore ordered by the Court that a levy of 6 mills on the dollar, divided as follows: For state Matter of appointment and qualification of deputy assessor: On this day Martin White pre sents to the court the certificate of appointment to the office of deputy assessor, with his oath of office endorsed thereon, duly tub scribed to by him, as by law pro vided, and the court being ad vised in the matter it is ordered by the court that said appoint ment be and the same is hereby approved. In the matter of the expense accounts of sheriff, assessor and school superintendent: On this day it is ordered by the court that all bills for ex pense of above mentioned officers shall be accompanied with an itemized statement showing for what particular purpose each item of expense was incurred. Matter of communication from Frank Malmberg: On this day it appearing to the court from a communication from Frank Malmberg to the secre tary of the county board of health that a portion of the Mist-Clats kanie road is ditched in such a manner that a large portion of the drainage of said road enters the well of said Frank Malmberg, It is ordered by the court that the clerk be and he is hereby ordered to notify the road super visor of road district No. 13 to turn the water from the said road in such manner that said well shall not be contaminated there by. Matter of letter of instructions to road supervisors: On this day it is ordered by the court that the clerk be and he is hereby instructed tofourth with mail to each road super visor within the county a letter of instructions as follows: In the County Court 01 the State of Oregon, for Columbia County. To all road supervisors: You are hereby ordered to within the next 10 days furnish the County Clerk with a com plete list of all tools, machinery and equipment in your district, belonging to the county The clerk will enter said list in a book and return it to you Any other tools, machinery or equipment bought or received by you, must be by you entered therein immediately upon receipt of same, thus keeping the record strictly up to date and in readi ness to deliver to the county court at any time request may be made therefor, and in all cases to be forwarded to county clerk with annual report at end of year.
