The furnace in the Houlton school i was out of repair a day or two last ! week, but is running smoothly again since the experts got through with it. John McQueen, Harry Owens and several other Houlton block makers are home for a few days from their work in Washington. All the sharp shooters and Nin rods of this community are practic ing every day for the big shooting match which is to be given by Welch and Chambers. Kvery man with a gun is invited to come. There'll be a prize for you if you beat the other fellow. The faculty and school children of the Houlton school are going to give an entertainment Friday even ing Dee. 1st at Spence's Hall. The proceeds arc to be used to build a gymnasium and it is hoped that it will be well patronized. Buy your tickets from the school children or at the door the night of the enter tainment. A surprise party was given on Mr. and Mrs. Brittons family last Tuesday night, dancing was indulged in for a few hours, sandwiches and soda was served, every one had a good time.
