are home for a few days from their

All the sharp shooters and Nin
rods of this community are practic
ing every day for the big shooting
match which is to be given by Welch
and Chambers. Kvery man with a
gun is invited to come. There'll be
a prize for you if you beat the other
fellow.
The faculty and school children of
the Houlton school are going to
give an entertainment Friday even
ing Dee. 1st at Spence's Hall. The
proceeds arc to be used to build a
gymnasium and it is hoped that it
will be well patronized. Buy your
tickets from the school children or
at the door the night of the enter

day. Mrs. James Nomsly and son
have gone to Portland for a few

land Sunday, her mother being
very ill.
Mr. Geo. Merrill attended the
funeral of Mr. Slavens at War

from Bellingham Wash. He is
visiting relatives and friends

A surprise party was given on

Laigh Hunt's Grave.

Green cemetery, London, Leigh Hunt's
body lies nt rest. A visitor, reaching
over the Iron fence to part the fra
