Hyman u. f oster tooK ner entire cargo at this port, and we are willing to own up. The Foster as we have learned loaded partly at Rainier, and we are glad of it. But this week it is the Review man that has been misinformed and in justice to the county of ficers here who are not lax in the preformance of their duty we feel bound to call attention to the following extract from theleadins: editorial in last week's Review: " A man has been accused of crimes so base, so infinitely be-! neath the standard of human, I yes, bestial society, that clear mention of them cannot be made. The man was in the city a day after this thing became public. The City and County offiicials were notified and on the ground. The man left and his wherea bouts is unknown. The Review cannot place the blame but would ike to pee jt placed and placed hard." The placing of the blame for the escape of this man seems to us to be the easiest thing in the world. There is a justice machine in Rainier, and there are officers to enforce the law. The state ment that the county officers were notified and on the grounds needs a little explaining. The common belief, and it is supposed by the facts, i3 that the man accused left Rainier on Wednes day. The District Attorney here was notified by telephone on that day in time to catch the train for Rainier in the evening, and went to that place and investigated so far as was in his power, but it was after the man had left Rain ier. il And there was no warrant fiu'ftrn nnf -fitr Ida nrmcf nnfll i3lAlAiil4tiaiMitA of the same week, the r ... Why was the warrant not sworn out at once upon the commission of the crimes becom ing known?
