Mr. Utha Clark haa in charge the work of converting it into a hotel and when completed it will be by far the best hotel structure in Columbia County. The up per story will have eighteen rooms, each room being 910 feet with a hallway eight ten wide. The first floor will have five large bedrooms, beside, the parlor, wait ing room, etc,; the basement will be fit ted up for wash roona and wood abed. while the kitchen will occupy an ad dition to the east of the main building. The hotel will be plastered throughout, and tborougoly plumbed, with patent Closets, ainka, etc. Very few country towns in Oregon have as good a hotel as at. Helens will have. The story come, from the Portland Jail that Michael Pierter (our Mike) made two attempts to commit suicide on Sun day last, the reason given being that he hated to part with bis money to the law yers. Piertier was released from jail last Sunday under 12,000 bonds, furnished by S. A. Mile and II. Morgua, and if he still haa a desire to try his fortune in that country from whence no traveler returns no one ran prevent him from doing so, It is a fact, however, that Pierter has had no difficulty with hi attorney., Messrs. Dillard and Day of this place, and that he reposes full confidence in their using their best effort la bis behalf. So far does this go that he has turned over to Mr. Dillard bis entire property interests, to use. in his behalf u he see fit. Good delivered without charge, willingly and cheerfully. Order freely. M.
