Design Director John Hall and Editor Danyel Barnard in Jackson Hole, Wyoming Action in Jackson After two days of profiling and pho tographing young professionals in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Editor Danyel Barnard and Design Director John Hall couldn’t help but reconsider their lifestyles. “I could definitely handle snowboarding every day at lunch,” says Hall. Not to mention the killer view of the Grand Tetons. Having participated in a small diversity recruiting initia tive at her previous employer, Time Inc., Dara Cook, who wrote this issue’s feature “Diversity U,” is especially inter ested in how diversity training affects employee recruit ment and retention. Dara is a New York-based writer who has written scripts for MTV Networks and also freelances for various publications including Vibe magazine, The Source, and XXL. Writing about electronic monitoring for this issue’s “On the Job” column spurred Susan Countryman to become extra vigilant—some would say paranoid—about self censoring her email. To get away from the video cam eras and other pesky forms of electronic monitoring, she likes to explore Mount Auburn Cemetery and Arnold Arboretum in the Boston area. Susan, an associate editor at CNET News.com, enjoys chai latte, Play-Doh, and maps. For this issue’s “Forbes Mentors” piece, our industry editor Amy MacMillan drew upon her experience as a waitress to understand how Malik Armstead runs his successful soul food restaurant. A connoisseur of burg ers and fries, Amy remembers struggling to recommend dishes like oxtail soup and goat’s milk yogurt to the clientele at the gourmet food store/restaurant where she worked. Fortunately, she abandoned the food business in favor of a writing career, where no one ever asks her what the soup du jour is. New York artist Anthony Freda recently had a mooving experi ence taking part in the Cow Parade in New York City. Fiberglass cows aside, Anthony’s work has appeared in publications running the gamut from The New Yorker and The Atlantic Monthly to Penthouse. An exhibit currently running in New York entitled “Trigger Happy” features several of his more personal paintings. 12 www.experience.com experience Founder and Publisher Jennifer Floren Editor Danyel Barnard Design Director John Hall Associate Editor Aimee Whitenack Copyeditor David Plunkett Editorial Assistant Topher Bordeau ADVERTISING Advertising Director Account Mgr.-East Account Mgr.-Central Account Mgr.-West Account Executives Sales Associate Alyson O’Regan Vincent White Julie Stockwell Rikka Seibert Bob Bruosta Colleen Mears Meghan Gallant For information on advertising in experience magazine, call 1.800.489.7611 EXPERIENCE.COM VR Content Senior Editor Industry Editor Associate Editor Web Designer Graphic Designer Editorial/Design Asst.
